Press release
'When you drop a stone into a water tank, visible and invisible changes arise in the water. These are ripples on the surface, bubbles along the stone's trajectory, or invisible swells. In the same way, at the moment emotions such as "my heart aches" or "to be in high spirits" well up inside me, changes also occur inside the body. Through "water", which changes its nature and form according to its environment, I express the invisible world of emotion and energy that spreads inside the epidermis of the human body.' Ryuichiro Ando 'When I was small, I played at tracing the blood vessels in the palm of my hand. No two of these paths are ever the same; they go around the whole body carrying blood. And they prove that I am I. They are sometimes like the branching of a river, or like the branches of a tree. I am very drawn to lines that try to keep spreading as far as possible. Lines taken from the creases of the hand, leaf veins, blood vessels and so on, placed again on the same line: the state that contains everything is something like a map formed together by different things.' Moyoko Inagaki
