Press release
'The period of running back and forth trying to make something on my own has passed, and now I simply fiddle with the plastic fragments that keep multiplying before my eyes, aware of myself as being made to make by the system of mass-consumer society. I try to fix the unexpected images that rise up on the other side of that submission.' Hiroshi Fuji. Born in 1960. Completed the graduate program at Kyoto City University of Arts. Fuji's installation in the exhibition 'Happy Forest!' at the Contemporary Art Gallery, Art Tower Mito in 2008 was overwhelming. The countless toys used there had spilled out of the system rotation called 'Kaekko' that Fuji devised. The residue of Fuji's conceptual structure 'Kaekko': fragments of toys that were mass-produced and spilled out even from children's eyes. We exhibit three-dimensional works recreated by Fuji's hand from this grave of mass-consumed objects, and the paintings made on the basis of those three-dimensional works. Please come and see the exhibition.
